The Nxt Blockchain Creation Kit

While existing blockchain platforms supports many use cases out of the box, some advanced applications, call for the creation of new blockchain instances with their own unique feature set.

One solution to this is the upcoming Ardor platform which is based on Nxt technology, Ardor introduces support for multiple child chains each with its own unique token. However at least initially, all Ardor child chains would use similar core features and even in the future, core features will only be added by Jelurida and not by 3rd party developers.

Due to these restrictions, developers often clone the open source Nxt blockchain to create their own competing blockchain. Since these “clones” do not benefit the main Nxt technology and dilute the value of the NXT token, these clone chains are not actively supported by the core development team and the Nxt community and therefore struggle to get traction.

Introducing the Blockchain Creation Kit

In order to allow 3rd party developers to innovate using the Nxt technology while deploying their own feature set with their own token and at the same time contribute back to the Nxt ecosystem, Jelurida has introduced the “Nxt Blockchain Creation Kit” which is released under the Jelurida Public License.

Now anyone who wants to create a new blockchain with its genesis block and its own feature set can do so free of charge, the full Nxt source code is available for enhancement. The main condition is that 10% of the new blockchain tokens has to be proportionally distributed to the existing holders of the official Nxt blockchain token (NXT) based on their existing balances.

Projects using the kit will generate a new Genesis block based on a tool provided by Jelurida. Projects which comply with the Jelurida Public License will be entitled to receive development support and free upgrades to new Nxt releases.
